In this position, you'll: Be in charge of building systems that stream data, with a focus on: Using the Data Lake architecture to set up flows that connect operational systems to analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems. Re-engineering manual data flows to make them scalable and easy to use again and again Making ETL designs and code with the best ETL performance in mind Making data easy to access for analysis Be in charge of building a connected enterprise estate using expert knowledge of the following systems integration approaches: Serverless RESTful microservices Messaging and queuing Recognize and share ways that existing data flows between systems can be used again. Encourage the IT team and the rest of the business to use the best practises for data products and services. Build the team's data engineering skills by giving them technical leadership and career development. Be the business's leader in data engineering. The right person will have the following skills and/or experiences: Technical understanding. You can guess how technology will change in the future and give advice on how a product or programme can take advantage of those changes. How to code and build. You can set team-wide standards for programming tools and methods, and you can choose the best ways to build things. You can give advice on how standards and practises should be used and make sure they are followed. You can be in charge of the technical side of all stages and iterations of a data development project, giving project stakeholders method-specific technical advice and direction. Testing. You can look over requirements and specifications, and you can also set up test conditions. You can find problems and risks in your work and analyse and report on test activities and results. Data innovation. You can look into new data-related trends, perform horizon-scanning for the organisation, and come up with new ways to do things. Data modelling. You know what data modelling is and how it works. You can create, maintain, and update data models that meet specific business needs. Data integration design. To meet user needs, you can make data services that are good for their purpose, reliable, scalable, and ready for the future. You have shown that you know how to get information out of systems (for example, through APIs) Data integration standards. You can set benchmarks and stay up to date on the best ways to do things in your industry and across your business. You know how to keep these standards current and make sure they are followed.
