Hays Intelligent Automation is assisting a leading insurance firm in their search for a Principal Data Scientist. Advanced knowledge and expertise in modelling methodologies, dataset generation/transformation, statistical programming, and analysis will be required for the successful Principal Data Scientist. They will be expected to lead a team in a fast-paced, global environment and to take the lead on analytical initiatives that will have an impact on the firm's underwriting and marketing. - Use statistical and data mining techniques to identify profitable growth areas and optimise portfolio performance. - Analyze complex insurance risk factors and report findings to a wide range of stakeholders, including underwriters and product managers. - Create cutting-edge predictive models and analytic solutions to assist with underwriting functions. - Using data management tools, extract and manipulate data (internal and external sources). - Analyze data before developing innovative solutions to increase profitability and/or growth. - Regularly collaborate with business leaders to understand issues and recommend/provide solutions. Qualifications: + A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, or Computer Science is required. + An advanced degree in Statistics or Predictive Analytics is strongly preferred. + 8+ years of predictive analytics experience (ideally in the insurance industry) + Thorough understanding of complex business challenges, design analytical solutions, and advanced modelling techniques. + Advanced knowledge in statistical analysis and multivariate procedures.
