Your new position The Operational Performance & Intelligence Team at Southend-on-Sea City Council is excited to be hiring a Performance Analyst on a full-time, fixed-term basis (until 30 November 2024). You will be part of a collaborative team that values innovation and friendliness while working largely from home in this position. This position provides flexible work schedules, excellent training opportunities in additional programming languages including R, SSIS, and Power BI, and the potential to advance your data science knowledge through a programme of ongoing professional development. As a performance analyst, you will provide reproducible analytics and business intelligence reports largely using SQL and SSRS to support the Early Years Education department. You'll do statistical analysis that improves performance, financial efficiency, and citizen outcomes. You will assume responsibility for mandatory data returns and monthly financial reports, making sure that sound analytics are in place to get valuable insight from them. All statutory data tasks shall be completed by you to a high standard and on time. The self-service data access concept of the team will be supported and developed by you. You'll make sure that data is utilised morally and in accordance with the relevant legal restrictions. You'll work to raise data quality and come up with creative ways to do it. This position will primarily focus on reporting on early years education, but it will also be a part of a larger team that handles data analysis for all Southend residents. Having knowledge of other programming languages, such as R or Python, would be advantageous, but this can be learned through training. Additionally advantageous would be knowledge of Power BI and/or SSIS for data integration. Although not required, prior experience working in a comparable position for a local body will be extremely desirable. An someone with a "can do" attitude, who helps others, and who demonstrates strong personal values in line with those of the organisation will be excellent for this post. You must be able to collaborate well with groups, individuals, clients, customers, and employees. The right candidate for this position would be a data scientist, data engineer, seasoned data analyst, or someone with the requisite abilities who is eager to start a career in data science.
