Your new position I am working exclusively with the territorial police force responsible for law enforcement within the City of London. We are looking to recruit a business analyst on a fixed term contract for 2 years as a minimum. You will be within the Change Portfolio Office, which oversees the programmes, projects and change initiatives that make up the portfolio of change. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to analyse and formulate proposals, which may include an examination of how national initiatives and directives may be implemented and how they may affect the work of one or more business areas across the organisation. You will prepare reports with recommendations on assigned projects and work programmes for submission to the appropriate governance, ranging from internal project or programme boards to relevant Committees, as required by the process. Duties & responsibilities Work with a range of stakeholders to identify requirements and benefits through the use of appropriate tools and techniques including interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process evaluation, case studies, scenarios, business and statistical analysis, task and workflow analysis. Undertake consultation activity and lead ongoing reviews business processes across a range of business areas, using appropriate tools, to identify efficiency and improved ways of working. Gather and evaluate critical information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, translating both high-level and low-level information into formats that will inform business decisions. Distinguish user requests from the underlying business needs. Interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. Use plain English to translate customer technical and business requirements. Work with stakeholders to identifying drivers for change, analyse information needs and functional requirements to deliver documentation that sets out customer requirements for delivering a specific set of outcomes. Undertake research, benchmarking, consultation, and baselining activity for projects. Develop and evaluate options papers and feasibility studies across a variety of topics. Undertake cost benefit analysis of options and prepare fully costed business cases. Drive and challenge departments and services on their assumptions of how they will successfully achieve their outcomes. Work with Project Manager and Business Lead to provide a gap analysis and plan to move from current to new ways of working. Conducting cross-functional meetings and presentations to share and agree findings and recommendations. Documenting and communicating these results Skills & experience required Business Analysis qualification/membership from one of the following professional bodies, BCS, APMG International, IIBA or PMI or equivalent and relevant experience. Experience of working in, and undertaking business analysis, in a police service, relevant public/government body such as the Home Office or other security related environment which has close connections with policing matters. Experience of writing detailed reports with recommendations on the development of business. Experience of managing multiple stakeholders and their expectations when engaged on projects which involve changes to the business. Experience of planning and facilitating stakeholder engagement, collecting, and analysing feedback and keeping stakeholders informed of results. Competency in Microsoft applications with advanced Excel skills, including formula writing (vlookups, VBA), Pivot tables and charts. Any understanding of SQL would also be beneficial. A good understanding of either Project or Change Management methodology together with working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall delivery methods. Knowledge of, and ability to apply, a range of Business Analysis tools and methods including, but not limited to: Process mapping, interview techniques, data gathering, statistical analysis etc. Requirements definition and analysis Benefits identification and management Business case development including cost benefit analysis.
