Manager of Data We are currently looking for a Data Manager to join a FTSE 100 financial services firm with offices in Edinburgh and London. The position will ideally be based in Edinburgh, but they may consider someone in London who is willing to travel to the Edinburgh office on occasion. The Data Manager will work in the Asset Management function, assisting the Data Management lead in growing the function. The Data Management team's goal is to embed 'data as an asset' within the function's culture in order to achieve the required level of consistency, quality, and protection to meet the overall Asset Management needs, allowing Asset Management to become truly data driven. The role will be responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of a best-in-class data management capability across the Asset Management function, including all aspects such as processes, systems, and validations. The role will help the company leverage data while securing internal and external stakeholder support to execute and deploy the strategy. Principal Responsibilities Data Administration Assist the manager in driving the adoption of asset management data management processes, validation, metrics, tooling, and solutions. Establish and document the business requirements for data management process automation in Asset Management strategic platforms. Drive the adoption of data management reporting, measurement, and continuous improvement. Management of static data across core asset management platforms such as Portfolio, Private Credit, and Security. Master Non-business owned data, such as Index Name Listing, and business owned data are both created and maintained. Data Scrubbing (the removal of historical data from the platform when it is prioritised), for example, Asset classifications should be standardised. As a platform steward, I provide functional support and serve as a liaison between the business and technical teams. Operations consulting for change projects and business activities, for example. The company created the product. Assist the business with data queries, such as actuarial quarter end inquiries. Help the business / IT with reporting, such as managing reporting datasets and creating a quick view dashboard. Governance and reporting Data Accuracy Identify investment data quality gaps and collaborate with owners, operations teams, and technology to mitigate risk. Identifies and escalates Data Quality issues to Data Governance. Technology and Tools Aids in the evolution and integration of data management toolkits. Serves as a subject matter expert on data management business requirements, collaborating with delivery teams to ensure that requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and taken into account as part of the overall prioritisation and planning process. Collaboration with delivery leads to design and implement data management capabilities to improve solution and service delivery.
